Penny Wars is a fun way for students & families to raise money for a great cause!
The 2025-2026 war runs November 10th through November 14th (end of day).

How does it work?
Each grade collects donations online or in-school through collection jugs. These donations can EARN or DEDUCT points based on the form & placement of the donation.
To earn points for a grade:
- In school: Add pennies &/or checks to the jug with the grade level you want to support.
- Online: Use the grade-specific QR code/link above to donate any amount online.
- Please note: Online donations will only earn points if made using the grade-specific links above. Online donations made through the general donation link on the Pennies from Heaven website will not count toward grade-level points.
To sabotage (deduct points from) other grades:
- In school: Add dollar bills or silver coins (nickels, dimes, quarters) to the jug(s) with the grade level(s) you want to sabotage.
When the war is over, the grade level with the highest overall score (1¢ = +/- 1 point) will be declared the winner & win a prize!
All funds collected will go toward the compassionate mission of Pennies from Heaven.
What’s different from last year?
Changes this year were made with a few goals in mind: increase fundraising efforts; support the students’ spirit of cooperation amongst their peers; and reduce administrative burdens.
This year you’ll see that:
- Competition is between entire grade levels rather than individual classrooms
- New: 5th Grade vs. 4th Grade vs. 3rd Grade vs. 2nd Grade vs. 1st Grade vs Kindergarten
- Old: 5th Grade Competition - 5A v 5B v 5C v 5D; 4th Grade Competition – 4A v 4B v 4C v 4D; etc
- Checks will count towards EARNING points.
- Online donations will be accepted using the specific QR codes/links (above) and count toward EARNING points
- Collection jugs will be placed in more centralized locations within the school
- New: Jugs will be stationed near entrances/exits as well as the iPad Lounge; each station will have 6 jugs (representing each grade level) so students can easily earn/sabotage without roaming around school
- Old: Jugs in each homeroom
What organization receives the funds?
The Pennies from Heaven Fund helps to ease financial hardships for parents so that they can stay with their children in the hospital. Whether it’s assistance with transportation, food, sibling care, overnight bags, or other expenses, the Pennies from Heaven fund was established to keep families together when they need it most.
The Pennies from Heaven Fund is about families helping families. As a volunteer-only organization, 100% of all donations go directly to families in need and there are NO overhead or administrative expenses.
Does it matter whether we donate in-school or online?
Nope! You can donate more than once using whatever method is most con
venient for you.
- In-school donations allow your child to tangibly participate! And this is a great way to get rid of spare change you have around the house.
- Online donations allow you to get a easily get a tax-deductible receipt.
Feel free to do whatever makes most sense for you & your family.

Can I donate online to more than one grade level?
Yes! To donate online to more than one grade, you MUST submit separate transitions using the specific links/QR codes above.
After your first donation is submitted, use the corresponding QR code/link for the next desired grade level you wish to support.
Do I have to add an additional donation to Zeffy if I donate online?
Nope! Any additional donation is completely optional. The “additional donation” section is an unremovable part of the donation processing platform, Zeffy.
Pennies from Heaven will receive your full donation whether or not you contribute to Zeffy. Feel free to select “Other” and enter $0 when prompted to contribute an additional amount.
How do I submit a check?
Make your check(s) payable to “Franklin PFA” and have your child place the check(s) into the appropriate jug(s) at school. Remember, a check will now EARN points for the grade.
